Xanthe II is a stunning looking example of the classic Nicholson 32 Mk V.  The Nicholson 32 is a classic heavyweight offshore cruiser from the drawing board of Peter and Charles Nicholson.  This much loved and sought-after design has proved to be sea-kindly and comfortable.  The well-balanced hull feels light and easy to sail.  Xanthe II is well equipped and has been updated and maintained to a high standard by the current and previous owners.  Xanthe II is currently ashore at Sparkes Marina on Hayling Island.  To view this classic Nicholson 32 Mk V, please contact Simon Flowers on 02392 637 466.

Accommodation

5 berths arranged over 2 cabins.  Interior was re-upholstered in white in 2010.  Interior woodwork has also been re-varnished.
Heads, with sea-toilet (new 2004) and basin.
Galley with ice-box and Taylors stainless steel Paraffin stove with warming drawer.

Mechanical and Rigging

Construction
GRP hull, deck and superstructure.  Hull colour is burgundy (Awlgrip, professionally applied).
Cabin roof painted in beige.  Beige nonslip applied to white decks.
Hull and rudder were treated for osmosis in 1994. Cockpit drains have been renewed and enlarged.
New skin fittings (Lloyds Approved) were fitted in 2005.
Rudder bottom bearing was also replaced in 2005 and the rudder bored and inspected for moisture (none detected).

Engine
Volvo Penta 2003 28hp diesel engine (new 1990).  Last serviced in June 2010.
Stern gland seal replaced and re-packed 2008. Volvo gearbox spline kit fitted 2008.
Bow thruster fitted 2009.

Tankage
Fuel tank:  72 litres.
Water tank:   204 litres

Electrics
2 x 75Ah batteries.
Shore power and Victron battery charger.

Rigging
Gold anodised Kemp mast and boom, with solid kicker.
New chain plates fitted 1990.  Standing rigging replaced 2009.

Sails
Main sail - new 1989 and re-cut in 2010.  Single line slab reefing. A third reef point was added 2008. Pack-a-Main type sail cover and lazy-jacks.  Spare sail cover.
Genoa - new 1994 and re-cut 2010.  Roller reefing fitted 1992.
Storm trysail - unused.
Spinnaker - old, but serviceable.
Sail cover, sprayhood and dodgers in beige canvas.  Also: cockpit tent and awning.

Navigation Aids
Steering compass mounted on cockpit bulkhead (Plastimo Contest).
Raymarine ST60+ sailing instruments (new 2010): Speed/Log, Wind, Depth, Graphic.
Navman chartplotter (new 2005).
AIS, VHF radio (DSC) and Navtex (new 2007).
Autopilot (Autohelm 2000).

Anchors: CQR, Delta and Danforth + 50m chain. Tripping buoy.
