DETAIL
Built by Berthon of Lymington in 1947. African Mahogany carvel planks on oak frames, 13/4ins and 21/4ins alternative double framing throughout. The 5 ton keel [approx] is fastened with bronze bolts, removed for inspection in 1998. The hull has been glass/epoxy sheathed below the waterline using layers of 8oz roving and West System epoxy, excluding the lead keel. This was carried out by the previous owners for long term mooring in warm waters. The hull is of a splined construction and was totally resplined prior to the sheathing. All the seacocks are bronze; most were replaced in 1998 with Blakes lever seacocks. Teak decks were fitted in 1996, and the mahogany dorades with brass vents fitted 2005. The hull was painted in 2004 using International cream, and anti-fouling is Seajet Shogun033. Epiphanes varnish used for the interior and exterior, and International UCP primer for some of the exterior wood, the new boom was varnished with Epiphanes when made (by TS Rigging of Maldon). The bilges have been repainted with black bitumen in Winter 2006, and the water tank cleaned and new inspection covers fitted. The interior has been repainted, cream ceiling, as has the main berth, the saloon cushions are grey with red specks, all brass has been cleaned and polished.
