Construction:
Ketch rigged steel yacht (when completed).

This boat is basically the 46ft Spray model. We believe that she has been lengthened to approx. 48ft LOA by the inclusion of a clipper bow. The pilot house structure has also been moved forward to create a split level living area and a large aft cabin. A large deep lazarette has been incorporated into the aft deck.

Steel throughout, fully foam insulated. Hull and decks have been shot-blasted and coated with several coats of epoxy. The inside has been shot-blasted, coated with 6 coats of epoxy and then foamed.

According to the owner/builder, all the cutting welding and fabrication to date has been undertaken by a retired professional shipwright.

All the seams have been triple or quadruple welded. Extra thick steel plate (12.5 mm and 10mm) has been used in the keel area.

There is no ballast yet incorporated into the keel. There is a quantity of lead onboard ready to be incorporated into the keel. The steel plate for the keel bottom has been increased to 12.5mm and the keel sides have been increased to 10mm thickness which will add a couple of tonnes to the ballast, which is generally in the order of 5 – 6 tonnes (recommended). Total displacement when completed will be in the order of 25 tons.

Draft will be approximately 6 feet, according to the owner.
Accommodation:
9 berths comprising: one double en-suite master cabin (aft), a fore cabin with double v-berth and two single bunks, double berth in the lower saloon and a single berth in the upper saloon. Large amounts of storage have been fitted.

The en-suite in the aft master cabin currently has a shower fitted, but no WC. The forward heads compartment is currently only a shell.

The galley area is largely complete and functioning and comprises: a 115 litre fitted fridge, compartment for a top-opening fridge/freezer, double sink, large oven and multi-burner hob, microwave and large amounts of storage.
Navigational Aids:
There are no navigational electronics or other aids currently fitted.

The boat can be fitted with twin steering positions: a binnacle-mounted wheel in the cockpit and an internal steering position located on the starboard side of the upper saloon.
Engines and Tankage:
Re-conditioned Perkins 6354 120 hp diesel engine - not yet fitted. There is no gear-box (3:1 gear-box required); instrumentation or controls.

The engine room is partly completed, with placement for the battery bank cradle welded up. The engine is currently stored separately to the boat.

A stainless steel 2” Ø propeller shaft, together with a coupling are located loose on the boat.

Fuel & water capacity to approx. 500 gallons. Currently fitted are 2 x 50 gallon stainless steel tanks (fresh water). There are 2 x 100 gallon stainless steel tanks (fuel) cut and bent, but not yet welded up. Two diesel saddle tanks of approx. 100 gallons each could also be fitted in the engine room.

2 x holding tanks (fore and aft) have been part-fabricated in fibreglass, but require tank tops and hatches.
Sails and Spars:
There are no masts, mizzen boom, standing rigging or sails. All the chain-plates for the two masts have, however, been fitted. There are also various loose rigging items included, such as Sta-Lok terminals for main mast, various blocks and cars etc.

There is a main boom, which may require cutting down to size. According to the owner/builder, the Bruce Roberts plans call for a 48 ft main mast and a 36 ft mizzen mast.
Equipment:
Pressurised hot and cold water. Hot water is currently provided by gas heater.
Some deck gear: hatches, fairleads, cleats, grab rails and ventilators.

A 240-volt ring main and sockets have been installed. There is some 12-volt wiring in place for ceiling lights and berth lights.

There is no steering gear yet incorporated into the boat.
Remarks:
This yacht represents an extraordinary opportunity to complete the construction and enjoy a solid ocean going luxury yacht for much less than the overall price for a new yacht. A viewing will demonstrate the high standard of workmanship in the build to date.

The remaining work to be done would include: fitting the engine, the stern tube, the propeller shaft and propeller, rudder, masts and sails, rigging, electronics and the steering gear. The interior is probably 70% complete. Some holes for through-hull fittings would also need to be drilled e.g. for depth sounder, water inlets for the two heads, engine cooling (optional) and exhaust.

The current owner is keen to sell due to ill health, so will consider any reasonable offers.
